Individuals who have contact with horses tend to have a higher self-esteem and can be more nurturing towards other individuals
and animals alike. Individuals who have contact with animals form a bond that can be powerful enough to facilitate the power
of healing when faced with challenges, loss, or a particular need.
Research in pet therapy has indicated that animals are beneficial to our physical and emotional health. The interaction
with an animal has the ability to enhance our personal development and well-being.
The Horse of Teneker's sessons are designed to meet the specific needs of the individual, couple, family, or group.

In An Equestrian Assisted Therapy Session .
. .
. . . the horse will act as a mirror, reflecting the internal
feelings of the participant engaged in the counseling activity. The horse naturally brings about a genuine
affect into the counseling session, impressing upon the participant/client an accommodating and natural approach
to the activity. The therapist will focus on the behaviors and reactions of the participant/client and to the reflective
behaviors of the horse. Through various interactive activities the participant will develop their personal power and self-awareness, or
the ability to learn to cope with conflict, stress or difficult situations, as well as setting personal limits and boundaries.
Horses offer a non-judgmental ear; therefore, participants will feel accepted unconditionally in their presence. Horses
don't care what clothes you are wearing, if you are under or overweight, rich or poor, but react only to the behaviors
presented to them. This type of experiential therapy benefits individuals as they enhance their abilities to nurture
others and themselves.
